After my post from earlier this evening, I figured I should post something light-hearted. I don’t want my blog to become a place where I rant about politics. My major was political science, and the main thing I learned from it was that we might never know the right answer for many political questions (I’m not including the gun control debate in this. I am right about this issue and my solution is the only correct one. Anyway…).
I really want my blog to be about me (This is probably fairly obvious given the title of my blog. “My Present Self,” as in “Myself in the present”). Those of who you read my post from a few days ago will know that I was given two blog awards recently. For one of the awards, I had to come up with a list of questions. I don’t think you should ever ask a question that you wouldn’t want to answer yourself, so here are my answers to my Liebster Award questions:
1. What made you start blogging?
I first started blogging in 2009. I think I started blogging because I wanted more people to hear what I was saying. I say “I think” because I really can’t remember. I started this blog because I didn’t like the direction that my past two blogs had gone. I felt the first had become more about other people, particularly celebrities, and that the one after was just low quality. I also wanted to give my blog a name that would always be true, which is why I called this blog, “My Present Self.” It is always the present, so this blog title will always be relevant.
2. Who are your celebrity crushes?
Benedict Cumberbatch, Alan Rickman, Ralph Fiennes. If you don’t know who one of them is…please comment on this post and tell me how that’s possible.
By the way, I’m also interested in the careers of Tom Hardy, Cillian Murphy, and Jason Isaacs, but I don’t have a crush on any of them. Although they’re all really hot…well, maybe I have an almost crush on Jason Isaacs.
3. What would one of the songs from the soundtrack of your life be?
Skateaway by Dire Straits. I’ve listened to it since I was seven and the chorus still perfectly describes how I feel when I listen to music.
4. Do you like the country you live in?
Yes. It’s the greatest country in the world. Good eduction system, good health, lot’s of resources. We have the Americans right next door so no one will mess with us. Even better, we’re not Americans so we’re not hated by the rest of the world (I know it seems like I hate America, and…well, I’m sorry but right now I do. Get back to me after psychopaths have stopped gunning down children and half of Americans still want unrestricted access to guns. Last political thing, I promise).
5. If you could move anywhere, where would you move?
London, England. I have family there and if I could actually afford to live in England, I expect my flat would be quite nice.
6. What is your favourite film genre?
I like action and adventure films like James Bonds, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Die Hard (Only the first one! Apparently A Good Day to Die Hard is terrible. I think that’s partly because Alan Rickman wasn’t in it…I’m half serious. The best Die Hard films were Die Hard and Die Hard with a Vengeance. What do they have in common? They both involve Alan Rickman in some way).
I also like intelligent chick flicks like Bridget Jones’ Diary and Confessions of a Shopholic. And Disney movies. Disney movies are the best (except when they try to incorporate new princesses into the lineup. The only real Disney Princesses are Snow White, Sleeping Beauty, Cinderella, Belle, Ariel, and Jasmine. A case could be made for Pocahontas, but no Princess made after the 90s will ever be a true Disney Princess. Rapunzel and what’s-her-face from the Princess and the Frog, I’m looking at you).
7. How would you describe your personal style?
My style is me and I’m traditional, classy, feminine, elegant, graceful and stylish. Basically I dress in a classically feminine way while incorporating modern trends.
8. If you could meet anyone, living or dead, who would it be?
I know this sounds weird, but I really want to meet Hitler. I really think that if we could sit down and talk to him that we would learn so much about evil and morality and why intelligent people make poor decisions. I just want to say to him, “Explain to me what you thought would happen if you managed to eliminate all Jews, homosexuals, and disabled people(who else didn’t he like?). What if another group did what ever it was that you didn’t like the Jews, homosexuals, and disabled people doing? Why do you think people followed you?” I know people have written books about this but to actually hear from Hitler would be brilliant.
9. What is your favourite thing to cook or bake?
I don’t cook or bake as much as I should. One day I’ll be cooking for my husband and children so I should get more practice, but right now my menu is limited. I do like making macaroni and cheese (not Kraft Dinner; actual macaroni and cheese with actual cheese). When it comes to baking, I like making oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. My grandma makes them and I’ve never been able to make them as well as she does, but maybe someday.
10. If you ruled the world, what would be your first action?
Pray for wisdom. Then hire a bodyguard.
11. What social media site do you use most?
Word Press and Tumblr.
Wow; I’ve written 960 words. I’m conflicted. Should I post this or try to write over 1000 words? I think I’ll challenge myself and try to write exactly 1000 words.
Thank you for reading my post! Whether you agree or disagree with something I’ve said, please comment!

Quick comment. London’s not for everyone. I was born and grew up there in an area probably very close to your photo (Chelsea) and while it has its charms, the weather gets you down. So enjoy where live now! It’s bound to be better.
Where I am now has my family, friends, is in Canada and is doing really well considering the depression. So I’m not planning on moving.
I agree that the greyness would probably be depressing after a while. Maybe I should just save up and go on a month long trip to London.
